Blog assignment: Political globalization (Dayoung Kim)

1.     Summary
This topic is political globalization. Political globalization has been discussed so far in the globalization literature. This focuses on the decline of the nation state due to the influence of the world power. Political globalization is the construction of multinational and accelerated interconnected organizations. After the collapse of the socialist state, it became a global trend and access to a society that established a multinational community. Globalization can be viewed as a combination of great flows, but others may be concerned that the loss of sovereignty and the inherent sovereignty can be divided. So, this article explains how globalization works politically and understands the three important factors when globalization is already underway: the relationship between global geopolitics, global normative culture, and multidimensional networks.

Political globalization means the growth of the global political system, both in scale and complexity. The system includes government-level global civil society elements such as national government and social activist groups. One of the main aspects of political globalization is the diminishing importance of the nation and the emergence of other actors in political activities. The creation and presence of the United Nations is one of the classic examples of political globalization.

Since 1991, democracy has become a universally accepted form of government in Europe. Democracy has also spread throughout the world since the 1990s. Fukuyama Francis explained that the end of ideological war was the collapse of the socialist state. In fact, dualistic ideological conflicts, ie, socialism versus democracy, have disappeared. However, many of the conflicts that were previously hidden were revealed in earnest. The world is clearly spreading more and more ideas and concepts. Now we are in a new order and system of US hegemony. This is the order the United States has established since World War II. In fact, many of the world's great powers, including China, are threatening US power these days. Thus, the first process of political globalization is redistribution of power units.

The world is also making a world norm culture. And it spreads through excellent communication skills. The main characteristic is that it affects global issues such as human rights and environmental issues. According to the discussions in this chapter, Korea has been the basis for establishing rules in the past, but now it is in a tense relationship between the world and universal norms. There is a world culture that can be applied to all countries in modern society.

Moreover, discussions on political globalization are not classified as countries that are largely engaged in and the countries that less related to that. In other words, there is a polycentric network.
Communication is a main factor of politics. A progress of communication skill gives an opportunity which is discussing about global issues as well as domestic one. They are usually related to global normative culture, we can communicate with domestic and international universality through communication.

2. Interesting point
I agree that modern society is multidimensional. There was a Cold War between socialist countries like the Soviet Union and liberalism and socialism. After the end of the Cold War, there was a lot of conflict in the world. As described in this chapter, the collapse of socialism is not the end of ideological conflict. There is still a value conflict in the wider area. At first, I thought there would be no conflict if socialism collapsed. However, I found out that there was another conflict. I think this is interesting.

Also in this chapter we have seen how political globalization relates to a changing relationship between countries, societies and nations. A supranational or international community will emerge and lead to new forms of politics. The heart of this development is the idea of civil society. In other words, 'civic socialization' means a general form of politics connecting the region and the world. We also found once again that the idea of civil society can have a big impact on us.

3. Discussion
What is important in this chapter is consensus. We must create global values for all nations and people through consensus. The principles of consensus have evolved from ancient times, and discussions have been made to find the most rational method among many. Many of these rules are currently in use. We usually make many decisions using many rules. However, many rules are not always the best. If so, I would like to discuss what the real consensus is, rather than several principles, and how to find an agreement. If you want to share more comments, please leave a comment below.
