1. summary
Cultural globalization is a combination of culture and globalization. Globalization is universally multidimensional. It is a phenomenon that happens in many ways, including politics, economics, culture, and the environment. Through globalization, the world has special connectivity and dependencies. What is done in one society, in another country, is done with a country on the other side of the world. For example, it is like sharing real-time Eastern and Western music that never existed before.
Cultural areas are particularly mentioned in globalization. This is because globalization in areas such as politics and economy requires understanding and exchanges of culture. Therefore, through cultural globalization, many individuals can go further into one society and interact with all societies.
However, the general idea of cultural globalization may be that it becomes a single world, which is now an American-centered culture. They call it cultural imperialism or totalitarianism. If cultural globalization continues, cultures will collide and eventually some cultures will disappear.
Objection says cultural globalization can help close the regional gap. To taste the world's food and make international calls is to resolve re-gionalization. Rather, they say that globalization will not lead to the disappearance of other cultures, but promote their cultural identity. This is because globalization is not the ruling of a particular culture but the value of an equal culture.
2. What was interesting
Although I am criticized in this article, I have some sympathy with cultural imperialism. I asked a question in class, and I wonder if cultural globalization is truly globalization. The term "Americanization" seems to be true. It imitates the Western image represented by the United States in many areas of Korea.
But what's unique about Korea is that things that are westernized have a high-end image. whether it appears to be at a price or from people's perception. For example, I know that spaghetti is a kind of 'ramen' that many countries in Europe eat at home easily. But in Korea, spaghetti is three to four times more expensive than ramen. It seems that globalization has been divided into categories of currency culture.
3. Discussion Point
As mentioned above, I want to know what true cultural globalization is. We should further discuss whether cultural globalization will resolve the gap or create a cultural class.
