Blog assignment 2 - Cultural Globalization
1. summary
To understand the characteristics of cultural globalization, each word needs to be understood first. First is culture. A cultural example is everything that is naturally used in modern life. A culture is generally a major form of behavior or symbolism in a society. There are many definitions based on the theoretical basis of various perspectives according to differences in world views, social ideas, values, and behavior. Globalization is about understanding and accepting countries around the world and moving out of a closed state. Or, (a target) to make countries around the world understand and accept, free from a closed state.
By putting these words together, it can explain many phenomenons in modern society in globalization.
This connectivity between culture and globalization has become an indispensable characteristic of modern society. Not only mobile phones used in modern society, but also music, movies, and television we encounter almost every day can be examples. With the development of modern technology, media is now available. Cultural life without place has greatly helped the globalization of culture. There are some positive things, but there are some negative aspects. For example, terrorists, global warming. These problems are also not limited to one country, but to the whole world. This connectivity creates interdependencies between countries. This is getting bigger and bigger and is a new phenomenon different from the past. Examples of cultural globalization include food. The traditional foods of each country are being passed on and altered to another country.
2. mention of any new, interesting, or unusual items learned
Through this article, I learned that recognizing the globalization of culture helps me understand social phenomena. Examples of cultural globalization can be found and applied simply in food. A country's traditional food is passed on to another country. Various media are used in this process. And it changes to suit the tastes of other countries. I think this is also a process of globalization. And I learned anew that cultural globalization is also deeply related to capitalism. There is a tendency to underestimate capitalism in cultural globalization. But this idea is not right. Because culture itself is consumed more heavily by capitalism. And it was interesting that this phenomenon could also create cultural practices.
3. question
My question is the cultural phenomenon of the future. Is it right to look at the culture of each country separately as it is becoming more and more global? It is already extremely interconnected. Shouldn't the new culture be viewed as something worldwide, not national?
Culture can be divided into two main aspects: universality and speciality.
ReplyDeleteThe universality is a common characteristic of every country, and speciality refers to the unique characteristics of each country. Each country has a different background, different ethnicities (people) and different geographical backgrounds (environment). In other words, I think it is right to admit the cultural differences of each country.
