Blog Assignment 2: “What is the relation between culture and globalization?” by Sky Choi( CHOI HA NEUL)

1.Summary: Cultural globalization is a combination of two words: culture and globalization. To understand cultural globalization, we first need to understand what globalization means. Globalization takes place in a variety of dimensions, such as economy, politics, and communication. Globalization links and relies on distant dimensions. It has become a way of life for people and is connected and dependent on each other. Globalization is not inevitable, and it exists in all aspects of our lifestyle. The world is becoming increasingly integrated. We are used to consuming foreign products. We also use the food and life culture of foreign countries like ours. Tragically, some countries lose their independent rights, or sovereignty, because of other countries' aggression. For these reasons the world is integrated and can be said to be a global culture. Global culture is also criticized. Saying that the U.S. is creating a culture empire that dominates the world. They frown on the destruction of culture that is not Western culture. Unwanted global culture brings about a clash of civilizations. When civilization collides, a strong culture survives and is criticized as an imperial culture. There are other aspects of global culture. Humans are often unjustly generalized and are said to dominate other cultures. Or a world of diverse cultures that are controlled at the same time, not cultural domination. Deterritorialization is an interesting concept. it refers to the development of various connections beyond the categories of daily activities. In a cultural context, the Deterritorialization shows how life changes, connects with others, and penetrates in a cultural context. But this does not take a big part in our lives. Through ever-changing technology, the role of communication with media can also occur through remote coordination. For example, there is a virtual journey, which plays an important role in humans. Importantly, advanced communication is delivered to us based on clarity, integrity and speed of information.

2.What was interesting:  I think cultural globalization is an important aspect of globalization. Advances in technology have enriched human life. I think that technology has led to the era of globalization in terms of culture, and with the expansion of information and networking, we have been able to overcome the limitations of time and space, communicate and raise the value of cultural globalization. On the other hand, cultural conflicts are at odds, but they also create new cultures through integration. I think this process could lead to a more advanced society.

Conversely, as read in Reading, assuming that culture is integrated and becomes a community, a distinctive culture can lead to extinction. I think that is a very sad point. Also, culture after integration will not necessarily be a good culture. It is good to be a world where diverse cultures coexist because culture is not possessing but passing away.

3. Discussion: Major American companies such as McDonald's 's' and Coca-Cola have played an important role in the spread of American culture. Terms such as the colonization of cocaine are designed to refer to the dominance of American products abroad, and some critics of globalization regard them as a threat to their cultural identity. Terms such as the colonization of cocaine are designed to refer to the dominance of American products abroad, and some critics of globalization regard them as a threat to their cultural identity. In this case, I would like to discuss with ourselves what else we can criticize.
